Hi, Remember Me (And “That Place”)?
Iraq, again? Who are we kidding? With nearly 4.5 thousand Americans killed and tens of thousands more who came home in (mentally or physically) severely damaged condition after about 11 years of non-stop conflict, why is it that still no one seems willing to say that it all was for nothing, “The Mission” was not accomplished unless the mission was to empty the treasury into the corporate “Base” of George W. Bush.
As terrible as Saddam Hussein was, taking him out did not help anything in the long run for Iraq or the rest of the world, it only created a power vacuum that was filled by screaming towel heads that are certain that their way is the only way, about the same kind of folks as the Tea Bag A-holes we have to deal with here on a daily basis in America.
Out of Iraq, out of sight, out of his mind?

Why Does Everyone Keep Saying There’s “That Son Of A Bush”?
The sad paradox is that whereas most of the Democrats that you talk to will never forgive nor forget George Bush, most Republicans don’t seem to remember that he was their very own Iraq war president, somehow imagining that there was no gap between Clinton and Obama.
Mission Accomplished, Well Yeah, Except For…….
Oh yeah, Afghanistan, the place we should have gone after 911 if Bush didn’t have to “one up” his father.
So, how is that 10 cents a gallon gas thing working out for you?

Do Not Forsake Me, Zelda Gilroy….
In todays election for my district’s office of Los Angeles County Supervisor, Sheila Kuehl got my vote, there was nothing I could do to ignore this election as she was one of my early t.v. crushes first seen by me as Zelda Gilroy on the show “The Adventures of Dobie Gillis“. The fact that she years later came out as a lesbian (and I’m a life long heterosexual) is immaterial, her portrayal of a perky brilliant, intense and persistent young lady that didn’t give up on her dreams no matter how many times she was bumped aside by Thalia Menninger (a.k.a. Tuesday Weld), a sexy vixen who somehow saw Dobie as an alternative to Warren Beatty. In the real world, Warren who is the brother of Shirley MacLaine, served as a precursor to Eric Roberts, the brother of Julia Roberts, in the category of non-speaking siblings.
There were other formative shows on the air while I was growing up, one of the most relatable for me being “Love that Bob“, where Bob Cummings played a photographer who was always surrounded by swim suit clad models (and the recently deceased Ann B. Davis). Watching the pre-Brady Bunch video clips of Ms. Davis I was amazed by how much her voice and facial expressions were similar to those of Ellen DeGeneres, which is scary, very scary.
In so many ways, my life path certainly resembled what was found on a pachinko machine, with a bouncy path that took me past a lot of diversions to end up with my eventual career as a photographer. Perhaps my route could have been preordained by the hits on the bumpers and flippers of life that were shown on our old black and white window to the world.
“Hold it, I think you’re going to like this picture”
Was there another crush, you ask? Oh Hell yes, on “Hennesey“, a program about a Navy doctor played by Jackie Cooper, there was a nurse played by Abby Dalton who I thought was (in spite of the poorly airbrushed studio issued publicity photo below) absolutely beautiful, something about that overbite perhaps. I got to work with Abby years later on the t.v. show “Falcon Crest”, and stuttered my way through telling her about my early enchantment, I suppose she was just being nice because she didn’t laugh in my face, or order me removed from the lot by security.
